Tax Free Childcare (gov.uk)

Tax Free Childcare is a government support for paying childcare fees for those who are working parents. This system works by creating an account that is used to pay your childcare fees, you simply pay in 80% of your fees, the government top up the remaining 20% and then you send the full fee amount to your nursery.

You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).

15 hours funding for 3 and 4-year-olds
All 3 to 4-year-olds in England can get 570 free hours per year. It’s usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year, but you can choose to take fewer hours over more weeks. You can access this funding the term after your child turns 3-years-old. All you need to do is contact your nursery about using your funded hours and they will be able to support you through the process and let you know what that setting requires you to do e.g. fill in a funding form. 30 hours funding for 3 and 4-year-olds/Extended entitlement
You can get 30 hours of free childcare per week for 38 weeks of the year (during school term time). You may be able to get free childcare for 52 weeks if you use fewer than 30 hours per week. Check with your childcare provider to find out if this is something they offer. Not everyone is entitled to the extended entitlement but you can find out more by creating an account or checking the eligibiltuy criteria here: 30 hours free childcare – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
15 hours 2 year old funding
Some children are eligible for 15 hours funding from the term after they turn 2-years-old. Like with the other forms of funding this is 570 hours across a year which is 15 hours over 38 weeks a year or some nurseries may stretch this over a whole year.
